At 19:00 local time on September 15, the completion and opening ceremony of the Baghdad Nisour Multi-tiered?Traffic Hub Project, designed and constructed under a general contract by China Railway International Group’s subsidiary Transtech Engineering Corporation LLC and built by China Railway Sixth Group, was held in Baghdad. Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani congratulated the successful delivery of the project, noting that the Nisour Multi-tiered?Traffic Hub Project holds a unique geographical position, large scale, and complex engineering processes, making it a milestone in Iraq’s economic and social development. The project, he said, will greatly improve residents’ quality of life and inject new vitality into the central area. He praised Transtech Engineering Corporation LLC for its exceptional professionalism and rich experience in implementing the project, as well as its successful use of innovative technologies to overcome engineering challenges. He expressed deep gratitude to the company and extended thanks to the Chinese government, emphasizing that Iraq has always regarded China as a friend and strategic partner, and that the friendship between the two peoples will endure.
In March 2023, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani announced a package plan to construct 19 transportation infrastructure projects in Baghdad, including bridges, roads, and interchanges. Among them, the Nisour Multi-tiered?Traffic Hub Project undertaken by Transtech Engineering Corporation LLC is the largest, consisting of two major bridges and five tunnels, as well as the reconstruction of surrounding roads, renovation of public facilities, and upgrading of underground pipelines and cables.
